EYELETS ARE NOT RETURNABLE. If this is your first time ordering eyelets, please contact us with your harp model and serial number so we can help you determine which pack is most likely to fit your Dusty harp!
Eyelets are a small but essential part of a harp, and it's important to keep them in good working order! They sometimes crack from age or environmental conditions or fall out when a string breaks, so we have replacement eyelet packs available when you need them.
Our eyelets have changed sizes several times over the years, and it can be complicated to determine which ones will fit your harp! If you aren't sure which of these sets will fit your harp, or if you just want to double check your recollection, please give us a call or an email and we would be happy to verify it for you. We will probably ask you for your harp model and serial number, which you can find on a card inside the lower soundhole. You'll also need to determine how many eyelets of each size you want, or whether you want to get enough to cover the whole harp. Eyelets are non-returnable, so if there's any uncertainty as to which ones are the right ones for you, we're here to help figure that out!
For more details, see our information sheet on replacing eyelets.
Every once in a while, we run into a cracked eyelet that stubbornly refuses to be removed from the harp, and we developed the Eyelet Extractor as a highly specialized tool to help in these situations. It combines a screw extractor (referenced in the instructions above) with a custom low-profile handle, allowing you to grip and remove eyelets that are firmly stuck or those that are difficult to access with a standard screw extractor and tap wrench. For convenience, the Eyelet Extractor can be flipped around and used as an Eyelet Installer to push new eyelets into place. Instructions for use are included.
As with harp strings, there are no standards for the types or sizes of eyelets used by different harp builders. Brass is a fairly common material, but sometimes they are made of other types of metal or plastic. The sizes can vary by degrees that are too small to see, but make a difference in terms of fit and function. If you need replacements for a non-Dusty harp and you can't get help from the harp maker, your best bet is probably to measure the eyelets currently on your harp and see if the common sizes available from Musicmakers might be a reasonable match. If not, try doing an online search for eyelets and see what you can find from hardware suppliers. As long as the size and material matches what you have in your harp, you don't need to buy them from a musical instrument company.
If you are a harp builder looking for eyelets in large bulk quantities, give us a call to inquire about sizes and pricing. We have a minimum order of 100 eyelets per size.
For smaller quantities, we recommend buying from Musicmakers.
